A fourth generation Hillsborough County native, Trey’s roots run deep in Tampa Bay. His Spanish-born great-grandmother, Luz, immigrated to this country – like so many Floridians – in search of a better way of life. She found it in Tampa Bay.

Luz earned her living rolling cigars in the factories of historic Ybor City. As a single mother, she built a strong and happy home for her two children, serving as an example that the American Dream is available for anyone willing to work hard.

Out of the trials of the Great Depression, Trey’s grandfather, Earl Ware, Sr., would raise a family and build thriving businesses in Tampa and Brandon. Ware Boulevard and the Colonial Bank Building, located in the heart of Brandon, are testaments to his civic and business accomplishments. Trey’s grandfather taught him the importance of steadfast ethics and giving back to your community.

Trey and his sister, Lisa, grew up in a loving Tampa Bay family. Their mother, a thirty-two year veteran of the public school system, and their father, a thirty-five year veteran of the juvenile justice system, taught them the importance of a strong faith, the value of hard work and the blessing of a good education.

As a teenager, Trey was an avid reader, a dedicated fisherman and an accomplished athlete. Whether hunting with his father or spending time working at the family farm in Seffner, he enjoyed being outdoors. At Florida State University, he made his first run for office and was elected as Student Body President and Senior Class President. Upon graduating, Trey joined the business world as a banker in Washington D.C. Always thirsty for more knowledge, he returned to graduate school and received his M.B.A in Finance and Entrepreneurship at the University of Texas in Austin.

In 1999, Trey married the love of his life, Nina. Trey and Nina are blessed with two beautiful daughters, six-year-old Alexa and four-year-old Amelia.

Prior to Trey’s first election, Governor Jeb Bush recognized his commitment to Tampa Bay by appointing him to serve on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the agency responsible for managing regional growth and development. An active member of the community, Trey is an elected member of the Parish Council for Christ the King Catholic Church; a member of the Board of Directors for Trinity Café, an ecumenical organization dedicated to feeding the hungry of Tampa Bay; and a former member of the Board of Directors in the Brandon Chamber of Commerce.

For five generations, Trey’s family has called Tampa Bay their home. As a business executive with global experience in finance and technology and as a local, small business owner, Trey brings business common sense to the complex problems facing our State. As your State Representative, he is completely committed to ensuring a better future for our families and continuing to deliver results for our community.

As the grandson of World War II veterans, Trey was taught that military service is honorable, and we have a shared responsibility to protect and preserve our unique, American way of life. Trey continues on the path of his grandfathers and is proud to serve as an officer in the United States Navy.
